Services for Individuals, Families, and Our Communities

  • Utilizing the SMART Program (Self-Management And Family Training), these services are provided by our licensed addiction counselor. Services include: drug and alcohol assessments and referrals to residential treatment, DUI evaluations and educational classes, individual counseling, and group cognitive behavior pattern-changing classes. Also, because our service delivery area includes the 9 far northwest Kansas counties, arrangements can be made for us to come to you for these services.  So, if transportation is a barrier for you, and you live in one of the following counties: Cheyenne, Rawlins, Decatur, Sherman, Thomas, Sheridan, Wallace, Logan, and Gove, let us know and we'll discuss additional options. We know funds are always short and in high demand for our clients, so that's why these services won't cost you anything out-of-pocket! We can also make referrals to residential treatment facilities, should you need in-patient residential treatment first.

  • Our Peer Mentoring Program also utilizes the evidence-based SMART program, and these services are provided by our staff who also once struggled with addiction, themselves, but are now living in long-term recovery.  If you are living with addiction, they have literally been where you are right now, and have done the hard work to get clean and sober and take back control of their own lives. They've experienced the heartbreak of seeing their own lives be destroyed by substance abuse, been incarcerated multiple times, lost custody of children, lost jobs and homes, and have seen familial relationships break down. But one day, they became sick and tired of being sick and tired, and made the deliberate decision to get clean and sober so they could realize good health, happiness, and success again in their own lives. They will work closely with you one-on-one to attain the goals set up in your individual treatment plan (set by you and your counselor), assist you in finding community service hours, housing, and employment. They can accompany you to court, medical appointments, and child custody meetings with the foster care agency and DCF.  They facilitate SMART support groups and just for fun, they even host public sober socials. Their much-needed emotional support and praise, while simultaneously holding you accountable for your goals, are the real game-changers in your success! They look forward to supporting you with your journey, no matter your situation... from active addiction, to sobriety, into long-term recovery. And the best part, is that you won't have to pay anything out-of-pocket for these services! Our Certified Peer Mentors are dually certified to not only work with people living with a substance use disorder, but they can work with people who have a diagnosed mental health illness, such as depression, anxiety, grief management, and PTSD.  We will work to address your goals in your individual treatment plan to get your life back to where you can enjoy life again, and hopefully, restore your positive outlook for the future. Where in a normal instance you may only be able to see your regular mental health counselor once a month, we can meet with you weekly, if you like, so you don't feel alone with your troubles.  Our Peer Mentors  have, themselves, dealt with their own mental health issues in the past, so they bring a unique understanding when helping you manage your stresses and triggers, as well as helping you process whatever issues you are dealing with when it comes to your mental health issues. Again, the long-term goal is to restore your health and happiness so you can realize a fulfilled life where you not just live, but thrive in the highest quality of life possible.

  • In the world of addiction, we know the families can become just as sick as the actual addict. Therefore, we've incorporated the cutting edge CRAFT (Community Reinforcement And Family Training) method into our recovery program for families, which boasts the highest success rate (70%) for getting your loved one into treatment.  In our pattern-changing classes for families, we'll teach you how to set clear and safe boundaries with your addicts, teach you how to stop those enabling addictive behaviors, and you'll also learn how to rebuild healthy familial relationships, by engaging with your addicted loved one in a new, empathetic and supportive way (different than what you're probably accustomed to and is not enabling). Understanding how difficult it is to watch your loved one's life spiral down out of control is hard, one of the hardest things a family member can ever witness. Sitting in court as you watch your loved one in handcuffs being handed down his/her sentence, or on the brink of losing custody of their children, can leave you feeling terrible guilt, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, we also offer accompaniment to court and child custody meetings for family members, as well.  We know how isolating it can be for a family member who feels the public scrutiny or judgement, and your own personal feelings of shame or self-guilt, when you have a family member suffering with a substance use disorder. We will be here to emotionally support you through your own journey of healing.  We also hold public support groups, while maintaining the customary confidentiality, to provide much-needed emotional support for families.  And all these services are offered free of charge!

Spiritual Chapel

  • We know how heartbreaking, chaotic, or nerve-racking it can be when you have a loved one in active addiction. Having your heart miss a beat every time you get a phone call late at night, or from that familiar phone number where you know it's not going to be a welcome phone call. Or worse, not hearing from your loved one for an extended period of time, so your mind starts racing to really dark, scary places that it should never have to imagine. Watching your loved one lose yet another job, be evicted, or worse, lose their children to foster care, or be arrested... again... can leave you feeling like you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Sometimes, depending on our faith is the only thing that will bring a little peace and hope. Our small chapel will allow you to do just that.  Take a minute to yourself to light a candle, listen to soft spiritual music, read Bible verses, or pray. Simultaneously, we understand that living on the skirts of the addiction world can be very isolating and lonely. So if you prefer, an advocate will be more than happy to sit quietly with you in our chapel, and even pray with you. This is a safe place for you to renew your faith that things will get better, or even a place you can go to thank the Lord for opening the doors of recovery to your loved one.

  • Sometimes, just having a quiet place you can escape to for a few minutes to drown out the chaotic and restless world is just what you need.  We realize not everyone is "religious." But many of us still consider ourselves spiritual, and believe in a higher power, nonetheless.  Maybe you're one who might find some serenity in listening to soft music, creative writing, yoga, adult coloring, journaling, or reading.  Our indoor meditation garden room just might be where you can leave your worries at the door, and come in to relax, and just take a few minutes to fade out the world and take that cleansing breath and exhale...really exhale.  Some of you will prefer to be alone with your thoughts, as you enjoy the pretty foliage and listen to the sound of gentle water splashing in the fountain. Others will prefer to have an advocate there to talk through some of your feelings of fear, anger, frustration, resentment, or acceptance of your  situation, or perhaps, share memories of happier times.  No matter what your preferences are, we are here to support you any way we can.

Community Services

community services, presentations schools, churches, law enforcement agencies, employers EAP

  • Besides the services we provide to people who live with addiction and their families, we also have services available to those in the communities in northwest Kansas. We offer educational and prevention presentations to schools, clubs, churches, and other organizations about the dangers of substance abuse.  We currently offer the topics of Marijuana, Vaping, Fentanyl, and Alcohol, or we can tailor a presentation specific to your organization's needs.  Our Certified Peer Mentors can speak about their own life experiences with addiction, how this disease destroyed their lives, and even more importantly, how they were able to get clean and sober and go on to realize happy, healthy, and respectable lives. We can also work with employers through their Employee Assistance Programs/Human Resources to accept referrals for any of their staff who may need a drug or alcohol assessment, referrals to residential treatment, a DUI evaluation and educational classes, addiction counseling, group pattern-changing classes, individual peer mentoring, legal and/or CINC case management, or any of our other services we offer.
